Art Crawl was a campaign organised by Comuniart to help make emerging artists and their work more accessible to their local communities by arranging for their work to be hung in their local Pubs and Bars. Art Crawl consisted of three trails of exhibitions in 17 different licensed venues across London (in Shoreditch, Islington and Camden) that featured work by over 50 different artists. These venues included famous pubs and bars such as Cafe 1001 in Shoreditch, Barfly in Camden and the Kings Head Theatre Pub in Islington. The campaign lasted for one month from the 18th of August until the 18th of September.
Each venue hosted an opening show for their exhibiting artists and for the rest of the month, people were encouraged to visit all the venues in their area in succession using the maps which were made widely available in each area. The campaign was enjoyed by the venues' clientele and all the venues involved were pleased with the extra promotion and business they received in participating. Many of our artists mentioned how much they appreciated such great exposure: their work being seen by so many people in such prime locations.
Comuniart was honoured to work with such talented individuals and renowned venues in actively fulfilling its purpose of making art more accessible to wider audiences in fun, simple ways that enrich local communities and businesses.
